Best Books EVER!

OK, that may not be entirely true, but this is an interesting short list that spawned thousands of comments. OK, maybe not thousands...

Speaking of exaggerations, here is the best online calendar EVER for library use. (Note that this link only works internally.) OK, so it may not be the best, but it is one we are testing out to add to our web pages and blogs. It gives you options once you are viewing an event of emailing it to a friend, getting a reminder sent to you, or adding it to your own personal calendar. This is a FAR cry better than what we have now through the city page.

Anyone want to comment? Best calendar? Best book?

How fun to read all those comments about the "perfect library" with suggestions for alternatives! Can't wait to dig into some of those listed.

Hemingway in Literary Fiction but NO FITZGERALD? What a travesty! The Great Gatsby is the best book ever written.

And no Edmund Spencer's Faerie Queen, my literature major heart aches!

I was amused to read the comments, too. We're always so quick to take each other up about what are essentially subjective choices. Perhaps it should be called a Guide to Literary Friction. Here's a suggestion or three for those looking to read fine authors other than British and American : Memoirs of Hadrian by Marguerite Yourcenar, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, and Ake: The Years of Childhood by Wole Soyinka.
