Not to stir the pot TOO much but...I thought I'd toss out there that although there is an overall increase in library usage by us Gen Y'ers the racial breakdown of these users doesn't necessarily have the most positive implications for the library system...Just in case anyone wants any fresh MLIS reading material regarding the issue I suggest this article, formatted in APA for your liking:

Hoffman, D. L., Novak, T. P., & Schlosser, A. E.The Evolution of the Digital Divide: How Gaps in Internet Access May Impact Electronic Commerce. Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, 5(3).

"This paper traces how race impacts usage of the internet over time, in contrast to the authors’ previous study which looked at internet usage at a single point in time, and also takes into consideration income and education of computer users. The data shows that despite government pushes to close the digital divide, “the overall gap between whites and African Americans in Internet access and having ever used the Internet have actually increased over time"
